Supporting the People Who Shape the Future

As the National Education Summit approaches, one focus feels especially timely - how we support teacher wellbeing in real, practical ways. It’s something we think about often at Furnware, because we know that when educators feel supported, everyone benefits.

That’s why I’m looking forward to leading our workshop, "Supporting Teacher Wellbeing in the Classroom"at the summit. We’ll explore how small changes in classroom design can have a big impact - reducing strain, creating calmer spaces, and helping teachers feel more comfortable throughout the day..

Why Teacher Wellbeing Matters

Teaching is a deeply rewarding yet demanding profession. Between lesson planning, pastoral care, and administrative responsibilities, educators are stretched in countless directions - and often put their own wellbeing last.

A recent article in The Educator reported that nearly half of Australia’s K–12 teachers say 2025 has been the most stressful year of their careers - surpassing even the strain of the pandemic. This isn’t just a statistic, it’s a timely reminder of how important it is to support the people leading our classrooms every day.

How Learning Environments Can Help

The spaces teachers use every day can do more than just look good. They can invite movement, reduce physical effort, and create moments of calm throughout a busy day.

Here’s what intentional design can offer:

  • Ergonomic chairs that promote natural posture and ease discomfort

  • Sit-to-stand hubs that encourage movement and reduce fatigue

  • Adaptable furnishings that flex to match different teaching styles

  • Calm, welcoming spaces where educators can reset and recharge

Our Approach

At Furnware, everything starts with listening. Every school has a unique culture and priorities, so we work closely with educators and leaders to understand their needs and co-design spaces that support wellbeing.

We believe design should empower teachers, not restrict them. When the environment supports energy, comfort, and focus, teachers are better placed to do what they do best - inspire and guide students.

I’m looking forward to connecting at this year’s National Education Summit and sharing ideas in our workshop on teacher wellbeing. We’ll also be exhibiting throughout the event - drop by to chat, ask questions, or explore how we can support your school’s goals around staff wellbeing and learning space design.
