Introducing Be3 – A New Approach for a New Era
If you’ve worked inside a primary or elementary school lately, you’ll know: the classroom is changing.
Children today are navigating a world more complex, connected, and emotionally demanding than ever before. Academic skills still matter, of course – but they’re no longer enough. More and more, educators are asking: What can I do to help my students thrive?
Enter Be3: a groundbreaking new program that introduces two emerging and essential literacies – wellbeing literacy and character literacy – into the formative years of schooling.
Designed for students in Grades 1–4, Be3 helps young people build the social and emotional skills they’ll need to flourish, not just in the classroom but in life.
Developed by The Wellbeing Distillery, in partnership with the VIA Institute on Character and playmeo, Be3 is evidence-based, age-appropriate, and engaging. It combines the latest in wellbeing science with play-based learning, offering a structured program of active games; short, targeted sessions; and practical tools that help students:
Build stronger connections with their classmates
Learn the language of feelings and strengths
Practise skills like focus, gratitude, empathy, and decision-making
Apply practical wellbeing tactics in everyday life
The program is built around three key pathways:
🔸 Belong – Cooperative games and activities that strengthen peer relationships and classroom culture
🔸 Become – Explicit wellbeing and character skill development through short, evidence-informed sessions
🔸 Beyond – Everyday tactics to help students transfer their learning beyond the classroom
What sets Be3 apart is its ability to integrate seamlessly into busy school timetables. It doesn’t require specialist training, and each session comes with everything teachers need – from ready-to-go slides and scripts, to printable worksheets for key sessions. Even better, Be3 is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and is designed to complement your school’s existing wellbeing approach.
And it’s not just an isolated program. Schools who join Be3 receive personalised support from a dedicated Program Engagement Partner to help ensure success and impact.
In a world where student mental health is front and centre, Be3 is both timely and transformative. It’s a proactive investment in our children's capacity to understand themselves, relate to others, and navigate life with purpose.
